Interesting podcast. Fascinating to find out about the Stockdale Paradox. As you say, you can consider it in relation to veganism. Regarding Dominion, i agree, there was film promotion, but i was surprised to see a clip on the news that talked about the use of animals (rather than treatment). I presume people on the march also oppose use, although a lot are also connected to two track organisations. The film site says the "film explores the morality and validity of our dominion over the animal kingdom." So it has a definite rights element.
How mixed into welfare it is, though, i don't know.
Hi there,
The Stockdale Paradox is something that I wish more vegans would become aware of, and understand it.
If they did, then maybe they wouldn't get caught up in the groups like DxE and AV.
The whole "vystopia" thing concerns me.
Basically, this is a made up word to express being angry.
What really concerns me the most is that this word is now being trademarked, and will probably be used as a way to get money out of vegans.
I have seen a facebook "support group", that says
And "carnist" is another made up word, that was created to push a book that someone else wrote.
When I saw that quote about Dominion, I did hope that it would actually be a rights based film, or at least talk about them. Except everything I have seen since points to it being yet another reformist (welfarist) movie.
Everything that Chris Delforce said on the day of the parade was reformist.
If the movie, simply contains footage of how other animals are treated, I am not holding my breath for viewers coming away with an understanding of animal rights.
Sadly, this is yet another example of how the animal rights movement has been infiltrated by those who use industry supporting language.
