The Bullying Has To Stop

A little over four years ago I wrote an article asking “How Entrenched Is Bullying Within The Animal Advocacy Movement?

While I do hold high hopes for this ‘movement’, sadly things aren’t getting better.

In fact, I genuinely believe they are getting worse.

Which is especially concerning considering that this is a ‘movement’ that is supposedly based on compassion, and removing oppression.

It seems that the only way to ensure you don’t become the target of the social media bullies is to support the status quo.

Except that isn’t what veganism is about.Continue reading

If you did, did you notice that they are deceiving you into voting for them on Saturday?

Clip is below if you missed it.

After spending the time watching it, it has reaffirmed in my mind why I won’t be, and I do not believe any other vegan or animal rights advocate should either.

When Is An Apology, Not An Apology?

Have the AJP and Mark Pearson failed the animals already?
Mark Pearson, will consuming a dog be his next “error of judgement’?. Source: Facebook

Let’s cut right to the chase here. If this post is going to be a TL:DR, then this is what you should take away from it.

Mark Pearson should resign from the AJP and parliament immediately.

For those kept reading, let me ask you this.

If there was a person who has for many years championed ’cause X’. So much so that those who are involved in ‘X’ dread to see this person walking towards them.

This person is held up as one of the few people who is seeking justice for “X”.

Now what would you say if this same person was alleged to have participated in “X”?

Would you condemn that person?Continue reading

How Do You Deal With “Abolitionist Vegans”?

The ABC’s The Drum runs a regular opinion opportunity called Open Drum, where they ask for contributions from readers/viewers on a chosen topic. The most recent one was “ANIMAL EQUALITY: Why are some more equal than others?”

As could be expected, there were contributions from people on both sides of the topic, though one in particular stood out to me, hence the reason for this.

The piece in question is one written by Tammi Jonas, titled how to deal with vegan ‘abolitionists’, which appears to be a follow on from an earlier piece that she wrote for her own site, Tammi Jonas: Food Ethics, titled How to respond to vegan abolitionists.

While I usually don’t pay too much attention to these sorts of articles written by those within the industry, this one is interesting because according to the about page, Ms Jonas is a former vegetarian who became an ethical omnivore, and is now a pig farmer.Continue reading
